Really feeling very sad. I had completed two years of study, each year from a separate but recognized college in Canada and was totally eligible for three years work permit. But, I'm shocked to see today that I just got one year work permit after having invested so much money into education. This is such an unfair decision from CIC. Don't know what to do. Can somebody help me?

does your passport expiration date and work permit end date matches?

if yes, then there should be comment at the bottom of your pgwp that says that you are eligible for extension when you get new passport.

It sounds like CIC only considered one of your programs. You need to order your case notes to see why. It's going to be impossible for any of us to help until you do that and know the reasons why you were only given one year.

happened to one of my friend as well.. he went back to CIC to reconsider his application and converted the wp into 3 years without charging any other fee.. so might as well request for reconsideration as u have 2 years of education..

@scylla

Thanks for your reply. Do I need to reapply if I wish to order case notes? If no, do u have an idea how can I request CIC for my case notes?

@mesumrizvi

So, if I reapply, could I ask for a refund of my 2nd application fees? Would CIC be ready to refund my fees? For the refund, do I need to write it in the explanation letter that needs to be submitted along with the reapplication?

By the way, I had called CIC toll-free number today and they put a note to grant me 3 years work permit on my behalf for the visa processing center.

Hey, I got my case notes that I had ordered from CIC. They sent me a PDF document but I am not able to understand it. Has anyone read case notes before? In the email, they also sent a link to the Record Correction Request Form stating that I have the right to request the correction of any errors I believe to exist in any of the enclosed information which originated with Immigration, Citizenship and Refugees Canada. Do u hv an idea about this form? Also, as I said before, the CIC agent put a note for reconsideration to the visa processing centre; so, I'm waiting for CIC's reply to that note as well.
