2 TRVs at hand ... Will it be a problem?

Hi All:

I got a 10-year multiple entry visitor visa in 2013. And then I got a Temporary study visa which will expire this July.

I would like to know if I could still use the 10-year visitor visa to enter Canada after my study visa expires?

(Rumor says that once you get your study visa, then all your previous TRVs became annulled automatically... Is that true? It sounds unreasonable to me at least ...)

Thank you so much for your help!! Deeply appreciated.

Your study visa is not a visa to enter Canada. It is a permit to study in Canada. Unless you're saying you have two TRVs. Then one has been invalidated.

Thanks for your timely reply!

The first one I got is a 10-year multiple entry visitor visa (Visa type: V-1). And the second one I got is an S-1 visa that will expire after my program ends this July. I don't refer to the study permit cuz both visas are stuck to my passport.

I wonder if this is the case where you say one of them will be invalidated...

Does that mean if I want to travel to Canada next year, I will have to apply for a visitor visa again?

A lot of questions. Thanks for your patience!

Even i am in the same boat. When consulting the official CIC website, i came across this page:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/study-permits/final-decisions.html
Visa Officers are specifically told not to cancel previously issued valid visas.
However, to be sure there is a way where you can find out if your previous TRV is still valid. But it is applicable only if your TRV was applied online in 2013:
1. Go to CIC webpage,
2. Login to your account,
3. Click on the old TRV visitor visa's application status,
4. Under the tab "Document", if it is showing as valid, then you are good to go!

If you are not able to check online, and you do not want surprises in the airport, i would advise you to apply for a visitor's visa. Since you have a previously issued, expired student visa, you can get a new visitor's visa under the CAN+ scheme.

If you are in Canada at the moment, I would suggest to visit an immigration office to ask about it. If you are not in Canada anymore, then, go to the Canadian Embassy and ask the same. It is better to be safe than sorry.
