LANDED..........
January / February 2014
I will be landing on Pearson International Airport during February 2014. Initially we plan to stay for few weeks this time around, before finally moving to Canada early next year. I have two questions and will appreciate your input.

1. Often new immigrants are advised that the photographs provided are not according to specification and they need to submit new ones. Since I will not be in Canada, as a contingency plan, I will get additional photographs done during my initial stay and leave them with my friend (who is permanently staying in Toronto and whose address I will be using for PR Card delivery). Can anyone from their experience and local knowledge please let me know the name and contact details of some photographers in Toronto / Mississauga / Brampton who are very well renowned and accurate in taking photographs for PR application. Thanks.

2. Also please let me know (if any) steps that I should do in order to increase my chances of receiving my PR Card without any issues. Like I have heard that you should have your address ready at the time of initial landing, do not explicitly let the CBSA officer know that you will be leaving shortly etc etc…..

3. Also, could anyone please suggest some rent a car company, as I plan to rent a car during my initial stay. More importantly, are there any tricks of the trade that I should be aware of, like reading the fine print of insurance policy being provided as part of my package etc etc.

Most reputable photo places can do a proper PR photo. It is easy since they take a generic photo and then they use software to specify what the photo is for (PR, citizenship, passport, etc) and the software will format the photo correctly.

Blacks can do it (chains all over). I also used a 1 HR photo place in the PATH system. They specialize in passport and immigration photos.

Note that there is a small chance that they will call you and ask you to pick up your PR card. I don't know what triggers this though

If you go with a reputable rental company like AVIS, you should be fine.

Thanks keesio for your input.
