2 more immigration photos requested by visa office. PR process almost complete?

Okay, Buenos Aires visa office today requested 2 more immigration size photos along with my wife's birth certificate. When we sent in the application originally we supplied 8 photos for immigration as requested by the application. I wouldn't post this question except for the fact that the same VO office requested 2 immigration photos from another applicant. Does this mean that they are close to finishing the processing of our application? They have only had the application since the 3rd week of January 2013.
However, I know that her application should be straight forward as we heve been married and living together in Buenos Aires since 2002 and we have to small children that have their canadian citizenship papers.
Is it also a new policy to ask for two more immigration size photos during the stage two processing or is this just something that the Buenos Aires VO requests?
Anyone have any thoughts on this ???

I don't know if this helps. Our VO is Bucharest. When my husband got his passport request, he also got the request to bring in two immigration photos as well. When we got our 8 done originally, we had a couple left over, so we just sent those in.

Hopefully it means you are close to done!

That would be great if thats the case. Could be that since I forgot to send in the birth certificate in the original application they are requesting it first before they request her passport.

Hmmm...I'm not too sure. They just asked for a copy of her birth certificate?

I forgot to includ her birth certificate in the original application. I figured they would want to see that before they ask for the passport just in case the birth certificate had a problem......don't know for sure

Hmm, it would make sense for them to request it. Maybe that's the last chip to fall into place.

Could be that they must follow procedure and have all the documents before they do the final step of requesting the passport. Have to be close to the end if they require these two additional photos I would think,,,,,if not why ask for them now and not wait till after they processed everything else.....Hope I am not getting my hopes up here lol.

for us too they requested that even if we initially submitted 8; there could b 2 scenarios - either they use all 8 of them OR, most probably, they are outdated; everywhere it was saying that they need to be maximum 6 months old and for us it's been more than 1 year; that's actually rule for anything, passport etc; some enforce that rule more, some less

congratulations on PPR!! (when we got call to send the same things, the officer did say that; so that means it's almost done and all the stages so far were passed successfully!! of course not all embassies work in the same way and it's not the same with then u have the visa in hand, but i think u should enjoy this moment )

Don't think it is because the photos are old as they were taken only 3 months ago, so i am thinking they have used the 8 photos they recieved and require 2 more for the visa. In either case it would sure be nice to be at the end of the process........Just wonder why I havn't seen mucho of this on the forum before this...

I'm just wondering why they would request two more immigration photos. Anyone else had their visa office request two more photos? and why.....anyone........?????????Is it because our visa office is not located in a visa exempt country and the PR visa has a different format????????
The speculation on this is going to drive me nuts so I hope someone out here has some definitive reasons on whats going on here .........

just take it as a normal routine thing; maybe the other 8 photos r in one place and it's easier for them to just ask then to search them maybe missisauga kept 1/2 of them u don't know how they work exactly
in any case i followed closely many threads and many ppl post the ppr letter and in all letters they ask for 2 photos as well; it's different embassies but the procedures r similar

I actuallly recieved some news since I posted this topic and should have updated here as well... :-[
I emailed the VO and asked them about the about the photgraphs they requested as they were the same size requirements as the PR card requirements. I also asked that if the application was near completion could we submit my wife's passport along with the photos and birth certificate I forgot previously to save a trip to the VO. The same day (FEB 12th )they emailed my wife and requested her passport. They might have forgot to ask for it when they requested the photos and birth certificate or saw my email and thought why not...who knows...Just know they reiceved my wifes application around the 21st of january and started working on it feb 10 th according to ecas? and two days later they are ready for her passport,,,,
I am sure of this as well,,,if you are asked for two photos that are the same specs as the PR card photos,,,your'e application is complete....
