2.5 Months and still awaiting TRV decision

Hi All,

My wife has a job offer in Canada and she applied for TRV to enter Canada with Spouse and infant

She was previously in Canada and had received the same job offer and also applied for work permit and got one, but did not join due to 1st pregnancy and decided to leave for home country for delivery (not a great decision on hindsight)

Post delivery she is in India. She again got the same offer and applied for TRV on 5th January 2017 (application accepted on 6th Jan) to enter Canada as she already holds a work permit for the same job. We have shown proof of CAD 80 K funds and 60 K in application form till June 2018.

She is supposed to join on 1st April 2017. However, more than 2.5 months have passed but we have no response on our application.

I took up a job in Saudi Arabia last year with a large retail company and plan to leave once TRV is in place (someone has to work for the family). Even my job has a 2 months notice, and I have told my employers of my intention to leave but with the hanging decision I am also in a fix.

Our past experience with CIC has been very good. Dont know if they need more information or details or anything, we have tried our best to put all information in the explanation letter. We have put queries, but receive standardised responses.

We plan to travel by last week of March 2017 as my wife has to resume by 1st April 2017

Since, this is importatnt decision for us as family, this delay in decision has given us lot of stress. However, we are trying to be positive and await but now since it is so close to travel date we are very worried.

Could any anyone share their experiece of such a delay and probable reasons. How close to travel date does CIC give decision.

How long ago was the work permit issued? I assume it was based on an approved LMIA? How long is the work permit still valid?

This is an unusual situation since your wife would be joining the job quite a long time after the work permit was originally issued. CIC may be taking longer to process the application for that reason.

CIC doesn't time their decisions based on the applicant's travel dates. They make decisions once their review is complete (regardless of when the applicant's travel date falls).

well, the work permit was issued in May 2016 and she was to resume in July 2016

She did not join the job and did not take SIN

The position was LMIA expempt position (wife is a Phd. and its a specialised research position)

The work permit was valid till June 2018 and so was the 2016 work contract. The new contract is also valid till June 2018 (it is the same contract but re-issued afresh with new date).

How can we contact CIC or do you think CIC will ask us a query. We are ready to answer all their query but there is no response and dont know how to reach them for a personalised query.

Can anyone guide us what can we do in this situation. The clock is ticking on us. It will be a valuable advise.
