Just chiming in - My husband and I have an 11 year age gap. I'm the older one. I know the woman being older raises eyebrows for some people but I think our evidence and photos spoke well for themselves, so we didn't address it in our application.
I'm relieved! My partner (male) is 11 years younger and this fact has been one of my worries since the application. He knew I was much older but didn't know until recently (more exactly until I filled out my application!) precisely by how many years ;). If he truly loves me, the age gap does not matter and he proves it. Besides I look younger than him; he has more wrinkles and gray hairs than I do ;D.

I didn't mention it in the application, since I cannot change the fact. But I think it does not hurt if you mention something like "regardless of age difference"

Decision made 19-Jan-2013. Waiting visa.
I am 14 year plus 3 months older than my wife. We submitted almost 300 photos (engagement, wedding, honeymoon trip, reception, etc.) to CIC. I look younger than my real age. Good luck to everyone in this bbs.

I don't think a 10 or 15 year age gap is a huge deal, unless one member of the couple is close to the age of a teenager. Realistically there's men in their 70's marrying women in their 20's.. :p in some parts of the world. ;D I have no judgement on that, they can suit themselves.. just sayin' that I think compared to that 10 years or so is really nothing guys. One of our only strong points of our application is that we're very close in age.. I hope they notice ???

Hi, my husband and I have an age difference of 13 years. I didn't pay attention to this age gap in our application. However, I was reading through some topics and saw that for some people it was one of the reasons to have an interview or a reason to be rejected. On the internet one says they prefer an age difference < 10 years, someone said < 15 years.

So I was wondering, should I add something about our age gap in the application or just leave it out. Mentioning it might save an interview or might be a reason for an interview...

What did other people do that had an age difference?

You can't hide the age gap, they can still see the dates in both of your application the birthday of the sponsor and the applicant.

My wife is 16 years younger than me, (she's sponsoring me).

Since they would obviously see there was a huge age difference and we'd heard it might be an issue we mentioned it in our development of relationship essay. Mentioning that when we first became friends online it was one of the reasons we didn't think we'd ever get involved, and that it was a concern when I first met her parents. pretty much saying that we were aware it could be an issue, but it never actually had been one for us.
