Hi,
I would like to share my experience in procuring FBI clearance. I sent my request on 24th dec 2009 thru USPS priority mail. up until feb 20 they told me that it had not been logged in. but five days later they said it was received on jan 6 and now logged in and in process. they charged my credit card on feb 26. i don't know how long it gonna take to dispatch the same. I have deadline of 31 march. i am worried about whether i could make it or not. if anyone has idea on it, i would appreciate if shared in this forum.

kathmandu,
I would think that after they charge your credit card, your application is processed right away, I think read that somewhere in other forum. so you probably will get something in a week or two. good luck.

Btw, did you put expedite process and the date required in your application?

Are you currently in USA?

How did you contact them? By phone?

Hi kathamandu, i sent my request nov16 i got charged around mid of dec, i got my fbi cert jan19, they mailed out on jan14, my deadline for submission was jan18, my lawyer said that it is ok if i sent it later, they just sent a letter with an explanation along with the full documents. but i think you will get yours before end of march.

Thanks erikvirgo and anjay
I contacted them mostly thru email and some times over phone. they invariably reply email within a day (liaison@leo.gov). ya, i put deadline in cover letter but that was first deadline; now i have extended deadline of 31 march. this job alone took half of my energy for the whole PR process. really disappointing part of this project for those you happened to spend some months in usa. now i am in usa . please continue sharing if you get further information about this. thanks again.

I guess you can send your application without FBI certificate now and send the FBI clearance afterward..

A quick question on this topic.

My deadline is June 02 2010 and I have sent my applicatipon to FBI on February 8th and when I contacted them they said it will take minimum 13 weeks to respond so that means it will take easily 15 - 17 weeks to get the certificate in hand and that means the dealine will be reached. so in this case can I submit rest of my application now itself to CHC and mention that I shall submit the FBI Certificate once received or should I wait close to the deadline and still if I have not received then send the rest of the documents.

Some please suggest.

Regards,
Laxmikanth

Hi kathmandu1, did you have any luck with the FBI Check? keep us posted. I am curious, I sent mine Feb 4th but paying with money order instead of Credit Card, hoping it would be processed faster. I should have sent it earlier. My deadline is June 16 for my 120 days.

Thnks

I would like to share my experience;

In processing my case FBI took some 12 weeks.

I have applied for FBI Certificate well before I received O.K. e-mail from Sidney, NS. Since submission deadline was fast approaching, I e-mailed my Local Visa office to ask if i can submit my Full Application without FBI Certificate!
They said i may submit my full application without Foreign PCC if i can provide them any proof that i have already applied for Foreign PCC and i am waiting for their reply!
Subsequently I mailed my Full Application to my Local Visa Office (without FBI Certificate) and have attached proofs showing that i have applied for FBI Certificate and they are yet to reply.
Later submitted FBI Certificate upon its receipt.

ersum_max,
Thanks for you info... some questions for you:

are you currently in USA? Did you pay with Money Order or Credit Card? Did you ask for expedite and provided request date?

thanks
