I got 1105 days when I applied (July 2014). Came to Canada in 2008, got the PR in 2011. Never worked in Canada until today, still working remotely for my hometown company (my father owns the company). I got 6 months absence for medical reason after getting the PR and some few weeks to few months travel before getting the PR. I don't know if this will trigger an RQ. Anybody has similar experience?

only the person who will review your application can decide, me i dont go out of the country for 3 years and when i sent my application, i got RQ. I dont what is their base for getting an RQ

Maybe they thought it's too good to be true that you never went overseas for that long.

I can see them using that argument in their thoughts. "If it's too good to be true, it's probably isn't".

It is like crap shoots with them. You want to be loyal and stay in Canada without leaving for 3 years, ( 4 years under new rule when that come into effect) and those who travel every year to make it normal still gets ding with RQ. Damn if you do, damn if you don't.

Did you have full-time employment here for the whole time also? If you did, then that stinks that you got RQ.

I had exactly 1095 days and got my citizenship a month ago.
If you are absolutely sure that you have 1095 days and can provide as much proof as possible, then go for it.

I am very concerned as I have travelled a lot even though I had a full time job....I am creating a spreadsheet of all my travel date stamp. Is there anything else I need ttake with me...I was away for 76 days (on different occasions)..and sent the application 3 days after I completed 1095..is surrey office strict?
76 days?? If you applied with 1098 days, you were definitely away for 362 days in the preceding 4 years from the day you applied.

To be eligible for Canadian citizenship, you must have lived in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) out of the four years (1,460 days) preceding your application. Please note that you cannot meet the residence requirements for citizenship without a minimum of two (2) years as a permanent resident.

When calculating your time in Canada:

only the four (4) years preceding the date of your application are taken into account;

i arrived in canada on june 2012 and stayed here since...
1. when am i eligible to apply?
2. do i have to wait four years before applying for citizenship even if i completed 1,095 days already? in case i will apply this 2015 (my 3rd year)

pls. shed light...anyone
thanks

Many people are in your situation wondering whether they will apply according to the new rule or the old rule.

They still keep the implementation date out of the public reach.

I think this is the answer to my question:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/citizen/CIT0407E.pdf

"in the last four years" means that those years before the last four years are not counted....

say u applied august 2014, u have to calculate only from august 2010,,,,years 2009 backwards are not counted...

therefore: you do not have to wait for your fourth year to lodge an application as long as you completed 1095 days which is exactly 3 years give or take on days....

Yes, that's true, but next year they will change the 3/4 rule to 4/6 rule at some point. Nobody knows when exactly they will implement the new residency rule.

I suspect that there will be a surge in citizenship applications as soon as they get to 1095 days from the time the new citizenship law was signed June 19.

You would be cutting it close. They could make it law on June 19th, exactly one 1 year after royal assent of new law. Even if you were able to cut it in on time, you must make very very sure that the application is completed as full. No chance for it to get returned for being incomplete. Once that happens, you will fall under the new rules when you have to re-submit it again.
