Hi,
Several people are facing issues with CIO's CC charge. Few unanswered questions are:

1) It looks like CIO needs CVV number for some credit cards. Is it true? for some, this does not seem to be a problem.

2) Some new card needs to be activated before use or limits set by the bank for international transactions.

3) "Debit cards will not work for international transactions" - is this true?

If anybody know how CC charging works, please enlighten us.
Thanks

CVV number not required as far I know.

Many International payment (trusted one) options does not ask it

CIO do not need CVV number. only credit card number and expiry date is required plus the name on the credit card.

2) Some new card needs to be activated before use or limits set by the bank for international transactions.

This depends on the bank policy so its better to check with the bank before sending the forms.

3) "Debit cards will not work for international transactions" - is this true?
They perfectly work fine.

If anybody know how CC charging works, please enlighten us.

Simply give your credit number, expiry date and name on credit and make sure you have sufficient funds in the account and also inform your bank about it so that they know its an authorised transaction.

Thanks
Cheers

Plus

When an application is considered as "Received and given file number"?
a) Soon as received OR
b) When payment is transferred to official account?. Which takes few days after receiving the application packet by CIO.

Thanks

We didn't provide CVV and our cc was charged with no problems.

2) Some new card needs to be activated before use or limits set by the bank for international transactions.
When we got our credit card we had to activate it online before we could use for transactions. May not be advisable to quote a credit card on your canada application for which you have never had a previous transaction on.

I would have thought that a Visa Debit Card would be treated by merchants as credit card. You can only use credit card or VISA/MasterCard debit card - you cannot use standard debit card ?

Only my thoughts on the matter. am not an expert
