I do not know the reason. I think it was just a random call. I was asked only 3 general questions about myself and studies

Hey. Really don't know what to tell you man. They don't entertain phone calls and they don't respond to emails. Though I do know that if you applied online, the application has gone to New Delhi, and nowhere else. So any phone calls or Web enquiries need to be directed there.
