Thank you Seton.

very well!

In addition, watch out for details!!
SIGN the forms and write the CORRECT DATE!
You'll be surprised how many people make this mistake. I almost dated one of my forms wrong.

Very nicely written seton !!!

Awesome tips ...
should put sticky on this one ...

;D
Congrats BTW ...

+1 for a very useful post!

A lot of questions on the forum were caused by not reading the manual carefully. Why don't people reading the official manuals before asking a question?
This thread should be on top of the forum for newcomers to read first.

In regards to point 3. Use update forms

We were just about to send the forms off and noticed that the form we have has 12-2012 at the bottom.

Have just downloaded another form and it has 04-2013.

So we are best to fill out the new form? That was lucky, so many things to think of. So annoying when you are waiting for documents and everything has already been filled out.

Thanks for the tips :)

Yup - always best to fill out the new forms. In the US, they actually put expiry dates on the forms, but the CIC doesn't do this. I can't recall seeing any cases pop up here about people being rejected for using an older version of the form, but it's always best to try to use the most current version.

At the very least, and I think most importantly, they should be downloaded directly from the CIC website.

What I have seen is people using the wrong document checklist, and omitting required documents. This could easily lead to a rejection.

Great tips!
Just wondering on point 5 "Obtain an opinion from the HRSDC for your NOC code", if anyone knows how to get the opinion, please let me know. I am a temporary foreign worker, I have the reference letter from my employer, not sure where and how to send the reference letter to get the opinion. Thanks!

Send an email to noc-cnp@workingincanada.gc.ca with your duties (from your reference letter), and ask the HRSDC to help you in determining the NOC code for your job.
