Hello everyone....

I stayed with my wife at her relatives place for 10 months before renting a house. Initial 2 months, i didn't have anything to show as proof. I have credit card and bank statements starting 3rd month onwards.

My questions are:

1. How can I prove the initial 2 months of stay?

2. Is bank account statement with that address and credit card statement enough for proof from 3rd month till 10th month?

3. What else I can use to show that I was residing at that place?

I found this page for you. It can be very helpful : http://residencequestionnaire.wordpress.com/rq-risk-indicators/

When you were staying for that 10 months, you must have given out your address to some institutions.. like for driver license application.. you can show that.

yes, that's true. i gave address to driver's license authority and service canada for sin card.
cic also has that address when I asked to change something on my pr card misprinting.

You don't need to include any housing proofs in your application. :)

correct, I am just wondering what proof to provide in case I get RQ

When you get RQed, we can discuss then. Don't worry about problems that never occurred yet.

I think CIC will be very specific what ducuments they want. But, since you were living with your relatives, drag them to a public notary and make them sign an affidavit that yes, you were indeed residing there. :)

ETA: Also, if you held a job at that time or were a student, then this is a sufficient proof of residence. Unless you were self-employed or a consultant. :)

Well, I'm not sure. I'm saying if you ran out of options, that might be your last one. :) I'm not sure if somebody else has done it. But, again CIC used to accept letters from employers, so... let's hope you don't get RQ'd. :)

I'm not sure it matters that much whose house it was. :D if you had a job at that time as I mentioned in my previous post, that can be your proof of residence. But if not, you might have to get a sworn letter from your relatives. But again, CIC will be very specific what they want you to proof. So don't worry for now!

I was unemployed for almost 2 months in the beginning. After that no gap

Quick question, you mentioned a driving licence, did you have a car? Paid insurance on it? Because if yes, then the bill should come to your folks' address. That's a proof too. Small one, but still something.
