Hi

My PSWP is expiring on 18/8/17 and my 1 year as a full time employee completes on 29/8/17. I worked in the same company from May'16 to Aug'16 as a contractor before becoming a full time employee on 29/8/16. Am I eligible to apply for EE CEC before my PSWP expires i.e before 18/8/17? I wouldn't complete 1 year though. ???

Thanks for taking out time to answer!

I am not sure. One year of full-time work is at least 1560 hours as per CIC. If you can get the work experience letter of these many hours, I think you should qualify. Better consult a immigration consultant who can advice you online.

a year means a year not less than a year with a min 1560 hours.

So I am not even eligible for OWP! In that case is my only option here is to request my employer get an LMIA and apply for a work permit extension? Slim chances of that happening.

Any thoughts!?!?

Depends what you mean by "contractor" - if you were self-employed, paid your own taxes, got a T4A etc., then no, that experience cannot be used. If you mean a short-term employment contract (your taxes were taken out of your paycheck, you got a T4), then you can use it.

You cannot apply (well you can, but you will be refused), unless you meet the minimum entry requirements for one of the programs. CEC requires a MINIMUM of one year of full-time work experience (or the equivalent in part-time work). If you have prior work experience outside Canada, you might be able to qualify under one of the other programs.
