Hello friends,
I have applied for an 1 year Post Grad in Financial Services studies and it will start from 9 Jan 2017 and will be completed on 31st Oct 2017.

After the program is completed i will get 1 year of Post grad work permit. Now i am worried what should i do to stay and work in CANADA once my study permit and work permit is over.

I live in Ottawa currently, i want to know the different ways through which i can get the PR status so that i could work after my studies is completed.

I dont want to study after my post grad as i cannot afford and i also dont want to leave the country, i wish to work here.

Kindly help with some solutions.

Hello,

Yes u are right u will get PGWP for 9-10months as your program is 8-9months.
If u find fulltime job, u will be fine applying for PNP, PR and get even bridging Work permit in the mean time

The only problem I see is that u have only 9 months to play with

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad.asp

Hope my answer helps.

Thank you for the information ANTON.

I forgot to mention one more question that is if i have studied in Ottawa does that mean i am only eligible to apply for the PNP in ottawa or can i apply in different province also.

For example if after studies i get a job in different province so can i apply for the province or do i only need to apply for the same province from where i have studied.

Hello,

U can apply in any province

My suggestion, start looking for job lets say 2-3 months before your graduation. this way u will have higher chance.

good luck

You can apply to any provinces AS LONG AS you are elibigle. I also have a 1 year work permit, but luckily I already got my BCPNP. (IT WAS VERY STRESSFUL). However, for my category, they require that you study in BC.

In Saskatchewan, SINP requires 1-year full time experience or related similar experience in NOC job category 0, A or B. May be if you have done 2 years part-time work experience it may be count if its in NOC 0, A or B. In addition, employer in SK will not gives you a SINP job letter right away as you join.

From my point of view, if you have 1 year or less than a year work permit, it's very difficult to get PR status.

8 -9 months is not enough. And that's the time you will get. I know is tough but if you could afford a 3rd period that will relief much of the tension.
Part time job made on Student Visa does not count as job experience time for the province. The only time that starts counting is from the time of graduation.

I did my 16 months masters in 12 months. I studied like crazy and took 3 subjects instead of 2, thus reducing 1 whole period. I though it was a clever choice, since I saved around 8k cad at that time. Problem is I got my pgwp for 12 months only. I got a job a few weeks before the graduation ceremony. And still struggled with the PNP. You need to do a IELTS test, you need to have a couple of documents translated, you have to proof financial capability to support yourself and family members. You just don't apply to PNP directly after finishing your studies.

And the icing in the top of the cake is that CIC takes waaaaay more time to process applications, that what you originally see. For example, the PGWP took 2 months and a half from the original 7 days they promoted when I wanted to apply. The work permit extension took 5 months from the original 30 days they promoted by the time I applied, leaving my family members out of status, because I cannot process their permits until I get mine. Then I had to wait 3 months to recover their status and pay a 800 fee....

Make yourself a favor, and look for a 12 months programs at least if your goal is to get the PR.

Hey buddy!
Ontaria is a tough place to find the employment and with the 8-9 months of work permit you wouldn't make it. I had 10 months of work permit and i was able to get my PNP because i applied for my PGWP at 81th day after i graduated. And CIC took 3 to 4 months to issue the PGWP during these time i had worked full time and i was able to file my MPNP which took almost another 3 months. But it was all risky. You have a chance here. Make it worth. Just study 1 more year and you will entitled to recieve 3 Years of PGWP.
