Hi all,

I have submitted my express entry application recently. some of my credentials are given below:
- three years of bachelors program from India
- one year of certificate program from Canada
- 11 months of full time work experience in Canada - more than 1560 hours (Aug'14-Jun'15)
- part time work experience of 6 months in Canada
- 2+ years of work experience in India
- IELTS score - S-7; R- 6.5; L-6; W-6

Question - am I eligible for CEC given that I don't have complete work exp. of 12 months but an equivalent 1560 hours of work in 11 months? This would really boost my score but I'm not sure if there would be any issues after my ITA. Any advice is much appreciated!

1 year of Canadian work experience AND 1560 hours

thank you guys..

how risky it would be if I submit my application for CEC as well given that I have completed 1560 hours BUT not a 12 month period? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Thank you so much for your advice, in advance!

As you have not met the absolute minimum requirements, one would assume "very risky". http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp
Minimum requirements
You must:

have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply,

Full Time

30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)

You need to fulfill both requirements at the moment when you get your ITA. Otherwise your application will be very likely refused.

Hi @dan_and.. i worked with Banana republic since Sep/14 to Mar/14 as retail sales associate. I believe it falls under NOC 6421.. believe it's NOC skill type C so probably not eligible for CEC. The issue is that I was only 2 weeks short of my 12 months work experience when my one year work visa expired at canada.

Secondly, my current CRS score is pretty low at 364. However, when I used the CIC express entry calculator, it showed at 391. Lastly, when I include one year of work experience I get a major jump to 481. I am thoroughly confused as to:
A - why did calculator showed a different score?
B- has anyone gotten through CEC with one or two weeks short of 12 month? I have completed one year course from Canada, did 11 and a half months of work experience and have a sibling living there. What are my odds here?

Any guidance is much appreciated!

Just a quick question sort of along the same lines...

I completed my M.Sc. in the USA and had a valid graduate assistantship (NOC 4012) while I was there. I held 2 contracts as a research assistant (during year 1: August 23, 2013 - May 22, 2014; 39 weeks at 20 hours/wk) (during year 2: August 23, 2014 - May 22, 2015); 39 weeks at 20 hours/wk). Taking those dates and hours into account, I do (barely) reach the working hours requirement (1560 hours over 24 months). However, will CIC even consider these hours when there was a summer school break in-between May 22, 2014 and August 23, 2014?

The problem here is continuous work experience. IMO this does not qualify for a year of skilled work experience.

Cheers ;)

The easy argument is that the summer break is standard for academic work. Back-to-back contracts in the same job with the same employer, this is a fairly strong argument. Your letter of reference would probably state something like "Lellis2 worked in X department as a graduate research assistant for two academic years, for a total of 78 weeks for 20 hours per week)..."

However, no one here can state with certainty whether IRCC will accept it or not. We definitely see people with RA/TA work get accepted, but it is possible they worked year-round.
