Hi everybody,

I've been working as a Supervisor since October 2016. I just don't understand how the total no.of hours per year is calculated.

1year = 52 weeks

52 weeks * 30 hours= 1560 hours

Does it mean I have to work for all 52 weeks?? I wasn't able to work during Christmas as my work place was closed for 2 weeks. So how do I componsate it?

I'm totally confused. Any help is highly appreciated and thanks in advance.

To meet the CEC requirements, you must have 52 weeks of work where you worked at least 30 hours per week. If your business was closed for two weeks over Christmas, you'll need to work an additional two weeks full time to make up these two weeks.

I think if person can take a vacation of 2-3 weeks, they don't have to compensate for working little more to complete their 1 year experience.

Only if the vacation is a paid vacation.

It is only calculated for part-time workers (if you work fewer than 30 hours per week).

1year = 52 weeks
The requirement is 1 year of skilled, full-time employment (or the equivalent in part-time work), where full-time is defined as "30 or more hours per week." If you work full-time, you do not need to count hours, only work for one year.

52 weeks * 30 hours= 1560 hours
This is only provided so that part-time workers can calculate their full-time equivalence (FTE), which by definition will take longer than 1 year.

Does it mean I have to work for all 52 weeks?? I wasn't able to work during Christmas as my work place was closed for 2 weeks. So how do I componsate it?
It depends on why it was closed. Were you paid? Was it vacation time? Or was it a temporary layoff?
Basically, if you were paid for the time, you can include it. If you were not paid, then you cannot include it.

Thank you all for your responses. How difficult is it to get LMIA approved if I convince my boss to extend my permit? I'm currently on my 1-year PGWP and I need to work for 2 extra weeks after expiry to reach 1560 hour goal. I'm in Ontario

There are some LMIA topic in this forum. If the boss is able to help you, don't hesitate to start that. Check everything yourself, be sure nothing is missing, application is completed...
Then it is not to difficult, specifically because you have been working for the company. It is absolutely believable that they want to support your PR and work permit.

I am just curious how will they know that u were on holiday (Unpaid) or off ? As we will provide only reference letter and last year notice of assessment so if you took unpaid holiday this year then obviously it won't reflect on ur last notice of assessment.
