I am a student with a study permit from the University of Toronto who has been accepted by my university to defer my studies for 1 year due to financial reasons. I would like to begin my studies in one year and work here because I saw that there's a possibility of doing that, also the pay rate is much higher than in my home country, and I will be able to save enough to continue my studies next year. I would like to know how I can change my status from a study permit to a work permit. In one year I will still be studying the same program at the same university. Also, when I apply for my work permit, what date should I put as the expiration date for my work permit? Since I do not want to leave the country until I have completed my studies. I have a lot of questions since this is a very particular situation. From now on, thank you.

It's unlikely you qualify for a work permit. You will have to find an employer who has or can get you a LMIA. The only other option would be IEC if you are from a country which is part of the program.
