Hi!

I am having trouble with finding a consistent answer to my doubt and I cannot find any of this information at CIC website. I will explain my case and I will be really glad if someone can help with precise info.

My issue has relation with the EE FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER (FSW) stream (NOT CEC):

I have worked PART TIME (20hs/week) as an ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (NOC 1241) through my whole time as a student of the Mechanical Engineering Career (5 years), gathering around 4800 work hours.

-> Can I claim full points for work experience (3 years or more) as an Administrative Assistant even if this is not what I have studied and I do not hold any Administrative education degree (a degree for this NOC is not necessary at my home country) and also even if my work experience has been obtained DURING my Mechanical Engineering studies?

Note: My work relation is completely legal, I do have payslips and I am able to get a reference letter as well.

Thank you very much in advance.

If you worked part time, you can't claim full time work experience.

Hey, thanks for your reply.

Why not? Where did you get that info? This info is on the CIC website:

at least 1 year of continuous work or 1,560 hours total (30 hours per week)—you can meet this in a few different ways:
  • Full-time at 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
  • Equal amount in part-time: 15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours) <- <-
  • Full-time at more than 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)

Thanks!

Yes, you can claim work that was not related to your studies.

I read your question differently. Sorry about that.
