Why RICC request passport and medical examination at the same time?

After waiting for almost a year, my husband received responses from IRCC for his study permit. But he received correspondence letter, request for original passport, and medical examination at the same time. I suppose if IRCC requests original passport that means his study permit is approved. But...

Study Permit (NY or Los Angeles office) - study permit to Canada from US

My husband came across the same problem -- there is no indication on which visa office processing his application. As we lived in LA, we chose "No" for the question which asked whether we apply outside Canada (as there is a note that if you are affected by COVID-19, you should choose "No"). In...

But, doesn't it still depend on the final decision? I just do not dare to be happy too soon. Also, IRCC still has not started reviewing my open work permit as a dependent.

Study Permit (NY or Los Angeles office) - study permit to Canada from US

I'm a bit confuse. I read through you all's comments again and find that a few of you think that Davidcheung 1030's letter is an AIP. I thought that it only indicates the beginning of the review, as there is no wording about "approval in principle." And as Davidcheung1030 said, it is labeled as...

Study Permit (NY or Los Angeles office) - study permit to Canada from US

My husband received the same letter also, but I thought it only means that IRCC has started reviewing the application, as his status under "review of eligibility" has been changed to "We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements." I'm not sure, but let see how others respond.

Have they started reviewing your application? My husband (non-US citizen) has a similar timeline as yours: applied in end March, gave biometrics in July 23,; he then updated info on legal status on Aug 7 via webform, got a reply on that update on Aug 13, but review still has not started...

Web form question which option should I pick??

The reply is quite standard, to be honest. But it does reiterate the files which we have uploaded (it could be automatic, I don't know) and there is the name of the agent and his number.
