Admission in universities depends on their requirement for selected program, check their websites, backlogs won't matter for admission unless you don't have gap. Although don't know if backlogs can cause VISA refusal.

I don't think, they'll extend anymore. That's what deadline means. Though you can apply for a quick loan or lend it from someone for a month, then pay him back along with some chocolates :)
