Canadian PR with American student loan

thanks. He’s been filling his US taxes himself by mail, and has never had any issues so far or anything sent back from the IRS. He files it as foreign income as a Canadian PR. We successfully completed the immigration process and now we’re just trying to figure out the details they don’t tell...

Canadian PR with American student loan

I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place. But any advice would be great. I sponsored my American husband, and he was granted PR over a year ago. He still has American student loans. Due to covid, he has not been paying them as the American government put a pause on student loan payments...

    Filing taxes

Hello everyone. I have a question about filing my Canadian taxes. I am a Canadian citizen, and I am currently in the process of sponsoring my husband for his PR. He does not have his work permit, and has not made any money in Canada. I am just curious about filing our taxes. Because he has not...

    OWP with PR

That’s where I’m a little confused. We were under the impression that he has implied status while we wait for the approval of the OWP. Even if we don’t get the approval before his vistor status is up. Is this incorrect?

    OWP with PR

Hello everyone! I am just looking for advice. I am sponsoring my American husband through the family class sponsorship. We submitted his PR along with an OWP December 19, 2018. We are still waiting to an AOR. His visitor status is up February 28, 2019. I know he has implied status while we wait...

    Inland spousal sponsorship

I should also mention we only have a one way ticket. Will that lessen our chances of getting through the initial border crossing?

    Inland spousal sponsorship

I was just curious as to where I can find the 4-6 month processing wait time? I tried looking it up and it told me 12 months for both applying inside and outside of Canada.

    Inland spousal sponsorship

Thank you for the reply! This is very reassuring. We just want to be fully prepared and have all the necessary tools when he’s making the initial border crossing in August. Thanks again!

    Inland spousal sponsorship

Oh ok, I didn’t realize that. I didn’t know you could apply Outland while staying in Canada. I thought that was what differed in the 2 applications. Inland, the PR applicant was staying in Canada. Outland, they were staying in the US. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Inland spousal sponsorship

Can you explain how we would go about this? How do we have him come in August, marry soon after, apply Outland, but stay in Canada? Thank you!

    Inland spousal sponsorship

That makes sense. Because he can stay as a visitor for 6 months. Should we apply for the visitor extension at the same time as the OWP and PR application?

    Inland spousal sponsorship

Thank you for the replies! Any experience with issues with the border patrol officers? Any tips or suggestions? Also, experience with processing times of OWP?

    Inland spousal sponsorship

I’m having a hard time finding information on this. I am a Canadian citizen living in Alberta. My fiancé is an American citizen living in Illinois. He plans on traveling to Canada in August, to get married in October, and then start the inland PR application, along with an open work permit...
