Exporting/Importing Vehicle - US to Canada ONLY!

Not sure which form you are talking about, but on my CBSA_Form 1 the section 15) FOREIGN VENDOR is just crossed out by Canadian agent.

Best method (minimal loss) for transferring money to Canada?

For almost 6 years I use https://www.knightsbridgefx.com/ to exchange US dollars to Canadian dollars as my salary is from US. As far as transferring money from the US to Canada to buy a house - I did a wire transfer from my Chase account to my TD Canada Trust US account, and after that did...

Moving from Michigan to Windsor,ON: Moving/Settlement/Commute tips

"...it requires me to work remotely from anywhere in usa..." - not sure what you mean. Is it your IP address for remote connection should be US based? I live in Windsor, ON and work for US company from my Canadian home. Since January this year they asked us to come to the office 1-2 times a...

Moving from Michigan to Windsor,ON: Moving/Settlement/Commute tips

What is this - "a Canada PR candidate"? Anyways, if you work remotely in US on H1b visa, why do you need to commute?

Exporting US car AFTER already Importing in Canada

In my case I surrendered twice my original Title and was given Ontario green vehicle registartion permit. I am not positive they will take a copy.

Exporting US car AFTER already Importing in Canada

You just , probably, will not be able to sell the car later in US.

Exporting US car AFTER already Importing in Canada

You can hire the third party to export your car for you. Do your homework. Or do not export at all, it does not affect you and your car in Canada.

Exporting a Vehicle from the U.S. and Importing into Canada: Complete Step-by-Step Guide

I believe the Canadian Form1 has nothing to do with US export. You can do the export as long as you still have the Title. Not sure about your location and whether you can enter US, but in my case, as I remember, I setup appointment by email and just drove my vehicle from Windsor to Detroit...

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

So, if I entered US with my US passport and returned to Canada with my Canadian passport - the CBSA does not know how long I was out of Canada?

CAR IMPORT FROM USA TO CANADA

Right, I did my Mercedes with dealership in Windsor, ON. It took them a week to re-program the system and ~$250CAN. The side effect was the temperature on the dashboard in C only.

CAR IMPORT FROM USA TO CANADA

No, CBSA agents will not tell you anything about modifications, that's between you and Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) in Canada.

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

This is just my opinion ( not suggestion) - in this case I would consider myself US tax resident, living in US and just to visit Canada. Despite family ties to Canada I still would consider myself "Deemed non-resident of Canada". Again, my personal opinion, not financial/immigration suggestion.

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

All these intersting questions, not clear to me "To fulfill residency requirement" - for US or for Canada? As far as "car plates" for CBSA and CBP - their main question is "where do you live?". If you live in US - you drive US plated car to, let say, your "vacation home" in Windsor. If you live...

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

As a person living in East Windsor for 5 years ( moved from MI) - agree with you 100%. The commute to me is easier since I am dual citizen driving ON plated car with US passport and Canadian citizenship card, always use the tunnel. My spouse came here as PR, never traveled back to US, never...

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

Read and re-read memo about residential ties and domicile , etc. Especially about "Deemed non-resident of Canada" topic. It's a bit of greay area, but I ( but what do I know?) would consider yourself as a "Deemed non-resident of Canada", even if for whatever reason others could say that you...

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

Agree, both customs are always asking first question "where do you live?" to identify residency . It's easy for me - dual US/CAN citizen to live in Canada and work in US, but probably not so for H4 holder.

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

Very interesting questions you have. 1. The answer depends on US company, whether the US company policy allows an employee to be located "overseas" and to work remotely. One thing is to work remotely, let say from Florida ( even this is questionable), another thing is to work in US, living in...

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

I agree. It's always unpleasant to drive US plated car to Canada. I had a big headache a few months ago when got the loaner from US dealership ( left my Canadian plated car to repair in US) and drove loaner home to Canada for a few days. Almost refused me to enter Canada. With real rental...

Bringing in property sale proceeds from abroad

My question to you is where do you live after moving back to Canada? Are you renting or bougth the house/condo in Canada? If you live in your home in Canada - that's your primary property, and whatever is/was overseas is not primary property anymore, right? I do not think this forum can give you...

Steps to export the vehicle from USA to Canada...

Generally you have to have a clean Title. If you have a loan - could be some difficulties to export not paid off car to a foreign country and registration in Canada. (but that's different question). I did not see any "length of ownership" limitation.
