Spousal Sponsorship in-land Applications 2016 timeline and updates

I resent my original upfront medical and an explanation letter via CSE sometime in March when they requested a new one. No response. Didn't do a new medical (Letter said I had 30 days to do it). LANDED in May regardless! Last week I got a response to my CSE about the medical saying that they...

I can't speak for Edmonton, but for me in Calgary it is next week and I just got the landing letter today.

I had a request for a new medical despite sending one in upfront. Even though the medical was expired by about a month by the time they sent the request, I was sure that they would be able to accept it. I wrote a CSE and attached the existing medical and an explanation letter. Did not get a...

If you currently have a work permit and reside in Canada you should be able to apply for a US tourist visa. I'm surprised they denied you before; myself and my foreign colleagues were all able to get US tourist visas without any problem. If you have your itinerary you should be ok, they ask for...

Maybe I just look like a friendly immigrant or something and they are hoping that I am planning to stay here forever.

Calling doesn't work, that agent can't add anything, they will just recommend you to send a CSE. Send a CSE note explaining and tell them when your appointment is. you won't get a reply, but it will be on file. That's all you can really do.

I've crossed that border many times during this process. Never been sent to secondary. They just want to see the permit and my passport, ask what I was doing in the US or wherever, and say welcome back.

Still frustrating to specify a deadline for a response, recommend an instant method of submission (CSE), and then not check or acknowledge what you send until after the deadline has passed. Especially if the submission is something like 'does this satisfy your request or do I need to do...

Afghanistan is the first country alphabetically. Clearly someone screwed up in selecting it from the drop-down menu. The other problem is that maybe they meant to select a different country and now they are waiting for a PCC from that country even after you clear up this mistake.

Sounds like a scam to me. If they start asking for a SIN number, hang up. Service Canada doesn't even deal with immigration.

Fly to Finland, take a boat to St. Petersburg and a train from there to Moscow. Entries by boat give you a visa-free window which was 3 days when I did it but I heard that scheme might be extended even longer. St. Petersburg is cool anyway.

Ok, thanks, that is useful information. Had you already done one upfront? I am still going to wait until I hear back about the CSE before I book a doctor's appointment. I think it is pointless to ask for a new medical and that a reasonable case officer would be able to override that request...

I think the request for you to do another medical was sent in error. I am in the same situation - I just sent the previous eMedical form via CSE. myCIC also says this for me now as well. Hopefully you get that DM letter before your booked doctor's appointment and save yourself $200.

Alberta apparently plans on taking care of us forever without the need to renew. No expiry date.

Except the Alberta one is just a flimsy piece of paper that they print out.

Your Alberta health card currently has an expiry date on it. You can go to a registry office once you have your PR and get another one. The new one won't have an expiry date on it.

Negative. AIP, but they asked for another medical. I sent a scan of the eMedical from the one that I already did through a CSE and a note asking if it was sufficient. Same thing I did with the PCC months ago. I really have very little desire to subject myself to that ridiculous medical procedure...

The key word in that landing letter is 'if'. You haven't been on social assistance so there is no need to worry and nothing you need to bring.

Spouse amount is $11,474 worth of federal non-refundable tax credits not a $11,500 refund. The refund would be this amount * the Federal rate (15%) There is also a provincial portion but the amount and rate varies from province to province. Overall, this credit is probably worth a couple...
