Thanks polara69. What if it expires after I enter but before I return to Canada? Will I need to get issued a new one before I enter?

Does anyone know if I still require an I-94 when I cross to the US by road with a PR status? I am from a visa exempt country. If so, does it need to be valid for the whole duration of the trip (a week) or does it only need to be valid for the date I enter the US? Thanks in advance.
