I've gone down before and cancelled my ticket while I was down there to extend my stay, I gather you could do the same.

My husband has a 10 year visa to the USA in his passport, so he is good.

No visas, he's a permanent resident now so anywhere you can travel as a Canadian he can do without the need for visas.
