3 days. I submitted my passport on Friday. It got processed by the embassy on Monday and sent back to VFS the same day. I collected the passport on Wednesday.

but its a black box. Cant say with certainty what helps. They used to have less than a week processing time before the Corona crisis from what i hear, Now the time is incredibly long and decisions are a bit sporadic.

No i didn't attach my flight tickets or hotel bookings. But what might have helped is that the organising team followed up on my application, as i am presenting on two topics, it takes a dent on the schedule. Maybe that expedited the process.

Update: Original Passport Request (OPR) received. I had applied from Netherlands but it was processed in London. Applied: 29th May Biometrics: 20th June BVL: 12th September Approval and passport request: 12th September I need to present a paper at a conference in October. So this came on...

congratulations....so it took 6 months. Was it a normal travel visa or for a conference?

yes i did as well. My conference is in October, Going by the threads it seems some people have received it sooner, while others have not. As your date is approaching fast I suppose you might want to email IRCC or the visa office for the status?
