I applied for a visa about 2 months ago. I have airline tickets in 16 days that I can still cancel for a refund. This refund expires in 2 days. Is there any way to find out if my visa application will be answered before then, or should I just cancel these tickets now?

This issue has been resolved. I just made another request to the Düsseldorf center instead of the Berlin center. They immediately sent me a confirmation email. My best guess is that not getting anything from them means that your appointment was not approved.
