Unfortunately no bank uses yahoo currency converter to convert rates. Every bank have their own forex rate and that is typically worse than what is in yahoo. Yahoo can only give an idea on day to day fluctuation going up or down but is not meant to be used for this purpose.

I think it is competition when Alberta govt. launches a PNP scheme targeting US H1B holders, organizes seminars in Philadelphia and other cities in USA (a competing country for the same people) to encourage H1B holders to move to Alberta saying they will not have to worry about work permit...

They have competition from other countries like Aus, UK, USA, Singapore..

I am in the same boat- applied for pre-assessment but not received application packet. I called Alberta PNP today and they said they will send application packet. no need to send full application now before we receive invitation.

If I were you, I would apply now, and add spouse as soon as feasible. I believe you can always bring your wife in other visa or open work permits to Canada once you become a permanent resident if it comes to that you were not able to add your souse during the permanent residency application.

Application for permanent residence form instructions say if you are providing identity card no. then provide a photocopy of front and back side of card along with application. That is what we did.
