Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

My husband's COPR arrived via courier today! We'll be heading down to the U.S. border so he can officially land. I can't believe this whole process is finally over. Thank you to everyone on this board who has been so helpful, and I hope your wives all get their visas soon, too. :D

Decision Made, wife is in Canada with me as a visitor, whats next?

Well, if I understand the process correctly, you will receive the COPR in the mail and that is what you should take with you to the border. Once there, you can let the border officers know you are there to flagpole, and they will take the COPR and get your mailing address in Canada and then they...

Decision Made, wife is in Canada with me as a visitor, whats next?

My husband just got DM as well. As far as I've read on the forums, CIC will not send you any emails regarding the decision; you will either get a COPR in the mail or a letter telling you your application has been denied. As for receipt of the COPR, my husband is here with me in Canada, and we...

Oh, I don't know.... maybe it had something to do with closing the Seoul visa office, which had a 9 month waiting period, and combining it with Manilla, Japan, and a whole bunch of other countries, increasing the wait time to 14 months. Or maybe it had something to do with how many Philippine...

    March 2013 Applicant

Thanks. No, we did the police clearances from Korea with the application. The most recent request they sent us was for a photocopy of his passport information page and we mailed that by registered post in March. Hopefully his visa is now on the way to us here in Canada!

Sponsoring Japanese citizen through the Manila office - please share!

I'm sponsoring my husband from Korea and our application was sent to Manilla in April 2013. We just got a request for a scan of his passport information page and his ECAS status changed to "In Process" on March 18th, so I'm hoping that means he'll get his visa soon! It's been almost 13 months...

You can take your wife's passport with her visitor record to any Alberta registry and apply for an Alberta healthcare card. It might take some doing, but it's possible. It really depends on the person at the registry. When my husband and I first arrived in Canada from Korea, we took his passport...

I said that the ex wouldn't let him take her in February when we applied. We wrote a letter saying it was understood that if she didn't have the medical at that time that he could not sponsor her in the future. Even though at that time the kid was still legally under her father's custody, she...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

We mailed 10 boxes on August 5. Most of them were clothes and some small household things, plus we bought a few souvenirs, like hanji lamps, to decorate the new place. We used the number 5 boxes and we weighed each box so it was under 20 kg (some were exactly 20 kg). It cost about 54,000 won per...

Tagum, I'm so happy for you. Congratulations! My husband and I have run into a bit of a snag with our application; maybe someone here can help me with a problem we're having regarding a medical exam. When we filed our application from Seoul, we reported that my husband did not have custody of...

My husband is so cheerful and charming and outgoing that I'm sure he'll have no problem finding some kind of volunteering opportunity. In fact, I'm sure he'll make friends left and right just because he's so darned friendly (much friendlier and positive than me!) Once he gets his PR he wants to...

Regarding medicals, my husband did his on October 2, and then we had a long, drawn-out battle with his ex-wife to let us get his daughter included on his application form and get a medical done for her. With all the back and forth and yes and no, we finally got the application sent out on March...
