I am in the same situation, wife and myself are currently in different countries, so i would be facing the same problem soon it seems... Not sure why cic cannot allow us sending passports to the nearest embassies, this rule seems too rigid..!

Thanks Quina and Bhaibhai for your inputs..! Bhaibhai - although my meds were done in may2015, the TLU happened only in march2016 once my wife completed her meds. Do you still think our immigrant visa would be valid till just may2016?

One general question... I guess it takes couple of months from the MR completion to receive PPR. What does the VO do during these months, background checks ? I completed my medicals back in may-2015 but my wife's were done in feb-2016. Not sure how long need to wait for PPR. Also not sure what...
