September 2011 - Here we go!

Sorry about the political rant... I guess we can all agree to disagree, it's just that every little thing seems to agravate the waiting, and of course we all look for someone to blame. On positive news, it's really exciting to see that an another August app got the OK, let's hope all those CIC...

September 2011 - Here we go!

Its a little frustrating to see that the people that applied in September of 2010 were getting first stage approval around 30 days or sometimes even less, and now we are stuck with more than 2 months. I know this is a sensitive issue, but I am SURE this is due to the now majority conservative...

September 2011 - Here we go!

Its hard not to get hopeful, but its also easy to get dissapointed, all I wish for all of us is to remain calm and confident about the work we put into our applications. Just remember love will prevail, and that we are all in it together! Lets keep encouraging and helping eachother, especially...

CIC Sao Paulo makes decision after only 37 days!!????

Actually my husband is here in Canada with me, he's under a post doctoral fellowship pogram at a University, but we found out that because he is here legally, and under a "special" type of visa we could still apply outland. He also already lived here for a year before, as an exchange student...

CIC Sao Paulo makes decision after only 37 days!!????

You have noooooo idea how good this makes me and my husband feel. Our application was very organized, we had a separate envelope for the forms, the supporting documents and for the evidence, but no matter what the anxiety sets in until you have an answer. I think in many ways our case is similar...

September 2011 - Here we go!

My husband has a work permit, which he obtained because he is doing a post doctoral fellowship at a Canadian University. His visa expires Jan 2012, so I am pretty sure our case won't be approved by then. I was told by a CIC call centre person that he is able to renew his visa because it's not a...

Applied outland but in Canada, can my husband renew his work permit?

My husband has a work permit, which he obtained because he is doing a post doctoral fellowship at a Canadian University. His visa expires Jan 2012, but I am pretty sure his PR won't be approved by then. I understand that he is able to renew his visa because it's not a straight up open work...

September 2011 - Here we go!

I feel the same way! I loved Jack Layton, he was a leader that deeply cared about the people of this country and he was trying to fight for better immigration policies that favoured family reunification. Now the conservatives are on a rampage, and it's insane how they are spending taxpayers...

September 2011 - Here we go!

I'm so sad about this increase to 66 days!!! I hope this has nothing to do with Harper's cut backs and his desires to reform the immigration programs. Clearly his party does NOT favour family reunification, and the worse is that they now have majority so they can do what they want... sigh***...

September 2011 - Here we go!

Please please please don't get discouraged! I think we all have those days when we get fed up with the process, but it's only normal. Take a day for yourself to re-charge and keep going. Being meticulous is a good thing! but don't go overboard. I think as long as your application is complete...

September 2011 - Here we go!

My applications was received on Monday Sept 12, I got confirmation from Canada Post website, I used the next AM service, which was NOT the next AM, more like 2 days. I would not use regular mail, if you use Canada Post, use any of the services that allow you to track and confirm the package...

You only need to submit a photocopy (see the document checklist) and don't worry, the self doubts are totally understandable. We triple checked everything before, and I'm still doubting some steps. Good luck!

September 2011 - Here we go!

Silly Question perhapss but I am wondering after the application arrives at CPC-M, do we get a formal notification from them saying they received the application? if so, how many days after they've received the application do they acknowledge its receipt?

    Brazil Police Certificates

We live in Montreal, and through the Brazilian consulate we got the name of a gentleman who did translations. I'm not sure where you guys are at, but perhaps the consulate can help you, if not any brazilian or portuguese organization may be able to assist. The price was about $30-$35 per...
