you can take bank draft but it will take much time to enchash to your canada account. tc is the same as bank draft . so better to take tc.

Go to Standard Chartered Bank with your passport. They will issue you TC in USD. you need a SCB account. Your friends or relatives account will be ok. When you open bank account in Canada provide them your TC and they will cash that from USD to CAD
