Has anyone received help from their MP in getting IRCC to do their jobs?

I honestly don't know why we have MPs. They claim that they are your "local representative" is demonstrably untrue. They are there to cheerlead their precious political party and nothing else.

    Address change not working

Sorry to ask, but do you have the phone number? The CIC website appears to hide the number, can't see it anywhere. I've tried requesting the address change via the web contact form to see if someone will pay attention there.

Has anyone received help from their MP in getting IRCC to do their jobs?

I know it won't make any difference, but I've also just written to the minister to tell him that his ministry is failing us and it's unacceptable. The federal government is a joke.

Has anyone received help from their MP in getting IRCC to do their jobs?

It's been 18 months now and I'm just sick of this. IRCC are useless. It is the job of Members of Parliament to help people with their problems with the federal government. When I lived in Toronto, I contacted my MP for help to move IRCC along, and they did absolutely nothing to help. Just...

Thanks for confirming. I wish just _something_ about this process made sense.

    Address change not working

Hi, I moved from Toronto to Ottawa and submitted a change of address through the "Client Application Status" page. After 3 weeks, my address hadn't been updated, so I submitted the change of address again. Two weeks later, and it still hasn't changed. Any advice on what I can do about this...

    March 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

As we hit the 1 year mark, I just want to say: I'm so sick of this, and I feel IRCC has completely failed us.

Yes, I've done this. It makes no difference :(

CBC news article on Citizenship Tests & in-person Ceremonies

I have a job lined up which requires citizenship to be eligible. My career development is on hold until I receive citizenship.

CBC news article on Citizenship Tests & in-person Ceremonies

The entire future of my career depends on citizenship, so actually I'd like to have it sorted out ASAP. Especially given that the citizenship test is an utterly pointless political football designed to appease racists, and the ceremony and the ridiculous "oath" where we have to swear fealty to...

Urgent Processing - Citizenship Application (Lets meet here )

I think that's probably true in many cases. If your path to permanent residence includes background checks, language tests, medical exams, etc, etc, then why not just make it automatic? The government knows when you've spent a sufficient number of days in the country, the whole thing could be...

Urgent Processing - Citizenship Application (Lets meet here )

I applied with a request for urgent processing (employment reasons) and it doesn't seem to make any difference right now. Pretty much every application is on hold pending citizenship tests becoming available again. It's idiotic, the tests are a complete waste of everyone's time. The pragmatic...

    Citizenship Tests - Alternative Scenarios

If they were smart, and they weren't directed by politicians, the smart thing to do would be to completely scrap both citizenship tests and ceremonies. They serve absolutely no purpose; a complete waste of time and money. Given that the government has pledged to scrap application fees for...

CBC news update about oath ceremonies and tests

One thing that nobody's talking about with regards to the tests is that they are completely meaningless and pointless. There is no tangible benefit to anyone having completed a citizenship test, it's entirely a political thing. Its content even varies depending on whatever is "on brand" for...

    March 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

Mine used to show both, but it had the wrong mailing address. I updated my mailing address to match my home address and now it only shows the one address (marked as the home address)

    March 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

Hi all, Just found this thread, but you can add me to the list: We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on March 25, 2020. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on August 21, 2020. We...

    Visiting Canada post-COPR without "landing"

Just to follow up on this: Tocanadawego was completely right. I talked to the passport control guy at the airport (very friendly), he said it was totally fine to come in as a visitor without handing in my COPR and doing my formal landing as a Permanent Resident. I'm in Toronto now (for a week!)...
