yes they will send you an email to get biometrics. That letter will need to be produced at VFS when you go for biometrics.

You should be getting the acknowledgment letter in a couple of days. Ideally 14 days. Not sure if this gets delayed because of Canada Day holiday

Its just an acknowledgement letter mentioning they have received your application and are processing it. I am guessing it a formality mail that is sent to everyone at some point in their application. Nothing to worry about.
