    From what I heard, one needs to appear in person to obtain PCC from Indian police stations. Atleast that's the case with the local police station that I belong to in TN. Rules may be different for other state police stations.

    You can give it a try if getting PCC from India is easy. Its easy if you know people in India. One of my friends got the clearance from India though he is currently based in Canada and he submitted the same to CIC. I did not see any concerns from CIC and he got a request for medicals.
