    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Oh Lasiar, that's awful! I hope they are just taking awhile because they are working on a medical extension so the landing date isn't five seconds after the passport is returned. I've not dealt with Detroit, but it seems the only reason Buffalo gave me any information is because I emailed...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

A few things have changed recently. Buffalo officially has closed, but it looks like they are still tying up some loose ends. My understanding is that all files are being transferred to either Ottawa or one of the regional offices. From my experience, it is really unclear where files are...

Should be, but if it's not, I'm just going to sell it before I cross into Canada because I don't want to deal with the headache. I'm putting it on my B4 regardless.

Congrats about the good news! Keep us up to date about the on-the-ground process of importing your husband's car. I'm likely going to have to land (in my car) before my car is fully paid-off, return and finish working, and then move toward the end of the summer.

I'm so sorry. :( I'd be really upset if I were in your situation (hey, maybe in a week or so I'll realize that I am!). Is your husband an American? At this point, I'd probably get the US government involved. To report a lost or stolen passport, the number is 1-877-487-2778. You likely aren't...

That's horribly disconcerting. Do you have copies of your husband's passport pages in case they lost it? I know that's absolutely not what you want to hear right now. Have you requested your notes yet? Also, did they specifically say they had sent the passport back to you or is there a...

    Spousal sponsorship

To clarify, did you send your application without your FBI clearance and now you are waiting for it before CIC will finalize your application? Mine took either nine or 10 weeks. I requested my FBI clearance before sending my application, but it held back the process since we didn't realize the...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Jenny, I'd recommend taking a look at this forum: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/form-b4-goods-to-followaccompanying-list-how-to-t44793.0.html I'm trying to figure out the nuances of the B4 as well, but there is a lot of good advice there. On another note, I...

By no means do I think I am in a worse position than many people and I realize that as an American I'm privileged in this process. I do feel like I have every right to be frustrated right now and it has nothing to do with the wait time. My frustration is with the lack of empathy this process...

    application question

Do you intend to get married before applying for PR? Many people don't qualify for conjugal partnership and those who do often have to wait a long time because it's hard to verify.

    application question

If you are applying for PR and intend to stay in Ireland while you wait for your application to be processed, you would apply through the UK office.

Yeah. I called them from work and immediately started crying when I got off the phone. I understand that call center agents have a difficult job and that there are a ton of applicants, so I really shouldn't be given any special treatment, but the process should be clear enough so we don't have...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Sorry to be posting so frequently on this board, but I want to give people any new information I've received. I got through to CIC, but did not receive any new information. The call center agent said that my file is probably in Ottawa. I told him that Buffalo indicated that my file is in...

    In need of advice....

By no means am I an expert on this subject, but I believe polyamory is legal in Saskatchewan. An American can stay in Canada for six months without a PR of work visa, but is not eligible for any social benefits.

How do you call CIC from the states?

They gave you a landing date before they sent your COPR? I really wish I had sent copies of my PP rather than the actual document. If they're going to take months to process my COPR, I'd like to at least be able to visit my husband. This has turned into a nightmare. :(

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Just an update on my file for anyone who is in a similar situation: I emailed Buffalo since they have had my PP since May 3 and my medicals come up on a year on June 14. I received a generic response that indicated my file had probably been transfered to Detroit. I emailed Detroit and received...

19 in-Canada CIC offices closing; all front counters closed (appt only now)

I'm so glad to be most of the way through the process at this point. For US-Canadian couples, it looks like it's going to be a tough decision in the future about where to live (from an ease of immigration standpoint).

Can I apply for a student visa while waiting for my PR result?

My understanding is that you can apply for a student visa while you're waiting for your PR. In order to get a student visa, you'll need to be accepted to a program first.
