Visa application is handled by different departments. It shows a ghost update when a department submits their report or refer that case to another department. They don’t show the details due to limited access for clients. This was explained by visa officer in canadian embassy during interview.

But i didn't even got correspondence letter yet and that visa officer told me during interview that background check will be done within 4 weeks. lets hope she was right about the timeline.

I applied for study permit on 28th may and medical passed on 13th july but application still shows "background check under process" what is maximum time for this step? is there anyone going through the same step?
