SP approved @ POE (US Citizen)

Yes, and I paid another $150CAD. Completely worth it. They didn’t make me pay until I was approved. Not sure if this is always the case, but I imagine they don’t make you pay if they send you back.

Almost none by the officers. See my reply above for more detail!

SP approved @ POE (US Citizen)

Arrived and applied yesterday. I used the ArriveCAN app to input my quarantine plan and was actually not asked much about it in person. But I came super prepared with a folder and laminated sheets for each item I needed to hand over. I also had to explain my plan to someone before getting on...

SP approved @ POE (US Citizen)

I actually don’t, but my program is heavily community oriented and has artistic components (especially music) which is difficult to do online. I also had a letter from my program explaining that key components have to happen within Canada (such as an internship I was given that adds to my...

SP approved @ POE (US Citizen)

Hi all, I applied at a POE (flew into the airport) and had my SP approved on the spot. I know this option is only available to the US (not sure if it’s both citizens and residents - I’m a citizen) but if anyone has questions about it, feel free to leave me a message.

    Study Permit Approvals

Not sure, but I know they are really trying to prioritize decisions (both AIP and rejections) before then so keep a look out!

    Study Permit Approvals

Yes, I’m sure. But unfortunately with everything going on it may stay that way for a while until you receive an AIP (or rejection).

    Study Permit Approvals

I applied July 10 from the US and got the AIP around August 14

That message means your eligibility review has started

    Got AIP today

I believe your eligibility will start before your aip because the aip checks your eligibility among other things

Trying to Enter Canada is a Gamble

That’s all an absolute shame to hear. Things are rough out there but I really feel for students entering their first year of college. It was never meant to be this way, and I hope she finds some way to spend this time doing other things that might help her once she can start...are you both...

    AIP for full app

I’ve heard of people getting it back within a 2-3 weeks. If you haven’t received any updates until this point, it might be worthwhile to spend the extra $5. You’d hope to be updated soon, and maybe you’ll receive an AIP before sep 15, but others have been waiting since March so you never know...

    US Applicants

Don’t be sorry, it’s not about the news channels. It’s about feeling validated that, yes, this process is confusing. And yes, people are getting in through this process even though others are not. Nothing to do with what the government cares about, just the results of real experiences. At least...

    AIP for full app

Nobody knows, but if you’re really curious to know more info about your case you can order your GCMS notes that shows a bit more about your file...but it hasn’t been incredibly long since you applied so I’m not sure if you’ll get very much.

Yeah, glad it’s getting some attention because for a little while it seemed like no one was acknowledging this!

    US Applicants

Oh darn, that’s frustrating. :( I’m sorry to hear that. Apparently some parents in the US petitioned for this and fought for it, not sure if that’s available to any organizations near you to try and do as well. I’m guessing the US has and will have a bit more leeway in these kinds of things...

Trying to Enter Canada is a Gamble

Thank you for sharing this! Definitely confirms that it’s all confusing - but there’s hope yet! I spoke with Chris (the attorney mentioned at the beginning of this article) on Friday and he made it seem like the most important thing to present at a POE is a letter stating non-discretionary...

    US Applicants

Hi, I’m actually more curious to know about the experience of it. I’ve dialed the CBSA with no response and it seems like the bottom line is “it’s up to the border officer,” which I understand so it would just be helpful to have some perspective from someone (your daughter) who has already been...

    US Applicants

After days of digging through this forum and others, I haven’t found a single US citizen who applied after March 18 and was approved. It’s completely possible that people have, but I personally have not seen/heard of any. This is really great to hear! May I ask you some more direct questions...

    Ircc is making students depressed

What do you mean aug 24-31 is the last week with restrictions? If you’re talking about the US, didn’t they extend the restrictions into September?
