    Stamps translate

Passport renewal stamps and their corresponding translations should be sent with the application. Passport stamps (obtained at airports, ports, etc) outside Canada, should be translated and taken with the passport(s) to the interview, if you have one. Translation is only needed for stamps that...

    Citizenship Applications after Bill C-6

You are correct about that the date of the application is considered the date the person signed the application, but more importantly it is the date of filing and the date of filing dictates the regulation under which the person applies. So, backdating to prior c-6's effective date would not...

    Citizenship Applications after Bill C-6

Technically, you can apply and then leave Canada and be outside Canada while your application is processed. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=911&top=5 My thought process is that for cases where people leave before they apply, they will need to report the last absence as...

C-6 not great for some of us

Again, wrong. Just because you repeat a lie one thousand times it doesn't make it true. You do that quite often. If your "theory" about signing contracts in different stages was true, how come residency requirements apply for PR's? After all, they signed the application before they were PR's...

C-6 not great for some of us

Actually, you are wrong about this. The intend to reside was very clear and it said on the form: "I intend, if granted citizenship...", meaning that it did apply after you were granted citizenship. After you are granted citizenship (and take the oath, of course) you are a Canadian citizen and no...

And you are commenting on here because you've been a PR for how long?

C-6 not great for some of us

I believe the correct terms would be naturalized Canadians and born-Canadians. C-24's intend to reside would have applied only to naturalized Canadians, hence the need to remove it as it was one of a few other caveats that create a second class of Canadian citizenship.

C-6 not great for some of us

Have you not seen the posts on this forum? Many, many of them are about timeline. But sure, I think it was very important to resolve the issues regarding citizenship beyond processing time. I personally think that Canada has a too-short of a physical presence requirement and the 183 out of the...

C-6 not great for some of us

Perhaps not as many times we have seen questions about how to re-enter or come back to Canada after having abandoned their PR for years and that didn't stop anyone.

C-6 not great for some of us

Keeping up or not with developments does not change the fact that some people were affected twice in two very different ways, at this point unnecessarily, of course. Also, it seems you are quite hung up on the fact that perhaps some people do not qualify for citizenship due to the physical...

C-6 not great for some of us

While many greatly benefit from C-6's Royal Assent, some of us have been royally screwed, twice. First, because people like me, who landed before C-24 but didn't qualify for citizenship by the time it was implemented, were forced to wait an additional year to be able to apply for citizenship...

June 2017 Citizenship Applicants - (pre C6 rule)

I knew this, but that does not make the poster's statement correct, although I agree it is now irrelevant. The point was that making erroneous statements may confuse more than help.

June 2017 Citizenship Applicants - (pre C6 rule)

Your comment is not correct. The intend to reside relates to the application and granting of citizenship (not to the oath itself) and it is binding to the requirement of "intending to reside" - you can not apply unless you intend to reside. The intend to reside is binding from the moment a...

PR card - Spelling mistake on address

I had my PR card delivered correctly even when the immigration agent typed the postal code incorrectly. When I called they told me that any corrections to the address would cause the waiting time to reset and I didn't want that, plus they told me that it would most likely arrive, and it did. I...

Traveling to Europe with PR Card or Passport?

No one can travel internationally on a PR card alone, at least not from and to Canada. A Canadian PR Card is not a substitute for a passport - only passports can be used to cross borders if you are traveling between countries that do not have borderless agreements (such as the Schengen or the...

    One Way Ticket

While not every one is asked to prove they have a return or onward ticket, it will depend on many factors. One being the nationality of the person intending to enter. For example, Americans or citizens of the European Union are less likely to be questioned when entering Canada. Not having a...

    Am I still a PR?

What I meant by "If you became a PR on your own, left and then married your Canadian spouse in the UK, this protection will not apply to you either" was to imply you met your future spouse in the UK, after you left Canada on your own (that is, common-law did not exist before you left Canada)...

    Am I still a PR?

    One Way Ticket

Any visitor to Canada must demonstrate that he/she will leave Canada. A one-way ticket does not fulfill that requirement. The airline will most likely deny boarding, and if they don't, it will be an oversight. If that occurs and the passenger flies, the immigration officer will most likely ask...
