Hi, our applications were received on May 18 but no AOR or application status on GC key yet. We also have citizenship applications in the process, could that be a reason for the delay/rejection? Any insights?

Our PR card renewal application was delivered on 18 May, but still no AoR yet. So you appear to be in the same boat.

Is this the same passport application form and papers/procedure for applying from outside Canada? Does one still need a Canadian guarantor and 2 references and do they have to be living in the same country where the application is made?

Is this the 1st time you've applied for Canadian passport and from outside the country? You took oath and citizenship certificate in Canada and then traveled without Canadian passport or you got the citizenship outside Canada? Interesting, because I didn't know this was possible and may find...
