Actually, we do not receive email updates for the bio-metrics updates and medical passed status. The email updates is only for the messages such as the bio-metrics collection letter, acknowledgement letters and correspondence letter of your bio-metrics which you would get on your CIC web-page.

A correspondence letter is a confirmation letter of your biometric validity. Another use of correspondence letter is that you would get your results within few hours after receiving correspondence letter or it would take maximum of 2 days to get your results after receiving your correspondence...

I would recommend you to use the IRCC's Web-form after 20 days of your application. In there web page, they say to use that webform if your application has exceeded normal processing times. https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx
