Well, I am not sure if it helps... According to the forms we've filled, if the sponsor is living abroad you may fill the forms with this information but you have to provide proof that both of you will live in Canada. If the sponsor is just traveling abroad, I think that wouldn't be a problem...

I believe they do work on weekends. Either they or the system. It happened to me as well (for all my visa applications to Canada. The system notifications could arrive at my email on Sundays and Saturdays...) good luck!
