Claiming EI whilst having a PR application submitted

Ppl in these forums told me that there are countless of cases were they applied outside the 4-months period, one just has to write a letter explaining. An officer would take into account having a valid Work Permit that entitles to remain in Canada but alse being layoff.

Claiming EI whilst having a PR application submitted

Should have waited for an AOR, or even better, for open work permit....CEC allows to to do that.

think about this, after you become PR

why do we need post like this? It's not that there is a majority doing what the OP says. Besides, thinking on the healthcare it's just short-term thinking. I bet that, regardless where immigrants come from, there are other things people may be missing by not staying for a full year on one...

Can Postdoc here apply for CES

most of the postdocs in Canada get salary through their PI grants. And is up to the University organization if they consider postdocs as employees (T4) or scholars (T4A). I was a postdoc in two different institutions that treated us as employees, therefore I got T4's. So at least for postdocs...

Can Postdoc here apply for CES

As long as you have a year of experience (work) you are ok. Make sure you have your contract and up-to-date work permit. I was also a postdoc in Canada for many years. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

wtf...how did they managed to trace your application?...usually by phone the officers don't answer anything like that!...did you give them your UCI number?, your PR file number? And the 6 weeks stuff...wtf!!!...did they tell you why?....I thought that usually what delays the process the most...

For those of you who got AOR and still waiting for PR. Does your file number (UCI from work permits) changes? Do you also get a new file number, different from your UCI that is only related to the PR application?

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

I have not done but if doesn't show up use this trick...whenever you have to show your contract, or current work permit etc, usually scanned, add to the same file the scanned AOR and an explanatory letter mentioning that you are applying to BOWP now that you have your AOR. Whenever the officer...

    CEC/ WP Conundrum- Information Request

well, get LMO, if it doesn't arrive on time, apply for the BOWP....if your employer is willing to make a contract for 1+ years, it may be better to get a closed WP cause BOWP last 1 year, and then u have to renew it and pay another 150 bucks (if your PR takes longer than 12 months). If your...

    CEC/ WP Conundrum- Information Request

    CEC/ WP Conundrum- Information Request

If by falling in this time window, your old WP is still valid. Well, your status becomes implied after the WP expired, meaning that you can stay in Canada as long as you are waiting for a decision on your BO work permit (keep all your receipt, the CEC application fee, the BOWP application fee...

    CEC/ WP Conundrum- Information Request

You can take a gamble and apply to BOWP mentioning that you expect that your AOR has been granted. I guess by giving your UCI number in your application, once an officer start processing it, he will look at the UCI number and find that you have been given the AOR. For this to happen, you have to...

    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!My Employer Just terminated me

No, it need the AOR in the system. That's why what you suggest is a gamble (I explained above with an example). Weather she get the AOR at her mailbox, or it's in the system, she needs it. But all resides in CEC application to become AOR, if CEC was not AOR, or the officer requested more info...

    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!My Employer Just terminated me

No, you can't. BOWP can only be obtain with an AOR. I've heard that, what you can do is to guesstimate when is the AOR will be coming to you, send your BOWP application 1-2 weeks before AOR comes to you and mention that in the BOWP application, also your UCI number and that you have been...

    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!My Employer Just terminated me

Another thing that this situation should warn us (ppl with work permits) is that you better keep yourself informed about your job status. You have to be active so you realize if the employer has plans to keep you beyond the expiration of your WP/contract. Usually getting a new WP takes 1-2...

    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!My Employer Just terminated me

Re: My Employer Just terminated me That's sucks, it look like it was coordinated to give you no time to apply for new jobs. From the info I've gathered, it will be very difficult to get EI, cause one of the requirements from it, is that you need to demonstrate the ability to apply for jobs...

proof of graduation!! - letter of graduation

I don't agree. I put all the extra information that I am not sure if it's needed at the end of the pile. I also included my degree certification (that mentions 2 dates, the degree ceremony, and the time I was ready to work) cause at some point I mentioned that I was still a registered student...
