Your status expired 7 months ago, you can apply for spousal sponsorship if you have 30 days left on your status. If you applied in june and your status expired 7 months before June then you have overstayed. They are probably in contact. Have you extended your status in Canada?

I’ve spoken to them over the phone and unless you have like a temporary application number then they could attach the receipt and the letter of explanation To the application.
