If your case is in interview queue, I don't think this way will work. However, it might help your case come out of interview queue.

Wasalam If you live in the province of Quebec, you can apply right when you come. Quebec doesn't ask for income proofs to sponsor spouse. For other provinces, I can't help because I don't have knowledge.

I hope that my hubby's case doesn't end up like this.. Have you been to Pakistan during the process, if no then you better plan to go.. Once in Pakistan fax and email them that you are there and you want to return Canada with your spouse. I'm sure CIC must have been ignoring your emails too...
