Question on exporting a car from US

Just reporting back - I got to the US border so I stopped by at the export office and explained that I submitted the export request and I just came out of Canada. The officer said I needed to export my car right then if that was the case, and asked for my car title, but as soon as he checked my...

Importing a used Vehicle from USA to Canada?

You are welcome and thank you for the heads-up! The broker I used was very responsive - Maybe it was just the person who was handling my process, but I corresponded with him via email several times and he responded within 30 minutes each time. The sticking point (and what I am still a bit...

Importing a used Vehicle from USA to Canada?

As for the preps for exporting, I am not sure about this quiz thing... I used http://simplifiedtradesolutions.com/get-an-aes-itn/vehicles-to-canada/ ($35) and I didn't have to take any quizzes. (I own my car outright so that makes a difference or it is because I used a broker; I don't know...)...

Question on exporting a car from US

Thank you for the posts. Since I didn't do this intentionally, I hope they are OK with it (if they ever find out.) I will just export it on the same day I am importing it.

Question on exporting a car from US

Thank you for your posts. Well, it's not like the border documents explain this point before you submit the request! I am going to drive over to the US side tomorrow and wait until Tuesday to export. Once exported, can I still drive the car for a couple of days on the US side before I import...

Question on exporting a car from US

I just mailed the US border my VIN and TIN numbers and I got a response back from them saying I can export the car after 72 hours, but it says at the beginning of the email in bold red letters saying below.. "The vehicle(s) must be in the U.S. when you submit your VIN and must remain in the...

Question - importing my car from US

OK, I talked to the officer when I went through the border to the US side today and he said I should export it first before importing it, so I will do just that. Also, coming back into Canada was a breeze. He wasn't interested in interrogating me at all (perhaps because I am now a PR...)

Question - importing my car from US

Can I import my car to Canada before I am done with exporting the car from the US? The immigration officer was so eager to import my car when I landed although I told him I hadn't exported it from the US yet, (and the only reason he didn't is because I didn'tt have the title with me.). I need to...

    Let's share our landing experience

I just said, "I would like to land" and the officer told us to park our car in front of the main building and to go in there. How did your landing go?

To see your husband's status, you will need to use Application Number (instead of UCI number) which is also listed in the SA letter, and then put your husband's name and his birth information, etc.

Question - importing my car from US

Thank you very much for your response. So you didn't need to get this gap insurance that mapleson mentions then?

Congratulations!!! I had a similar thing when I got my DM. In my case, I tried to change my CA address to my hubby's address (The address on my status page showed my CA address but I moved to NY and was visiting my husband more often than being in NY) but I didn't do the address change right...

    Let's share our landing experience

I got my COPR a couple of weeks ago, and I landed yesterday via Lewiston Bridge. It went smoothly. I didn't get a Canadian flag like someone in this forum mentioned though, but it's all good :) The officer said I would get my PR card in 4-6 weeks and that I can cross the border from the US by...

Question - importing my car from US

I just landed yesterday and the border agent wanted to have my car imported. I said I wasn't ready (I haven't even exported my car from US yet but he said he didn't care about that :o). Anyway, he wasn't happy that I wasn't importing it right away (somehow that is illegal?? ) Question 1 - Is...

Importing a used Vehicle from USA to Canada?

The procedure has changed since you imported your car, I believe. The change was sometime last fall. I cannot remember the details around it, but now you do need a broker (I will try to dig up the thread on this...)

Importing a used Vehicle from USA to Canada?

I am landing next week, and after that, I will need to start prepping to export my car from Niagara Falls, NY and import it into Canada. (I am still waiting to get the car titlefrom DMV NY since I had to register my car since I just moved from CA to NY and NY DMV took the CA title where the car...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Right, you can leave tax-deferred accounts like IRA/401K where they are and you can do whatever you did before, but after-tax accounts (any investment accounts) are supposed to be different. What are you doing with them? Have you tried changing your address to a Canadian address yet?
