(valid period is 6 months. you indicated you got yours back in July 2016, so it would've expired already in...

No, you'll only be in IP2 after your security check has been cleared - this happens when all your checks have been completed and everything gets forwarded to a VO for final decision. Have you passed eligibility do you know?
