It is really unfortunate to hear that your appeal is dismmised. It will be a good idea to go back, enjoy life with your husband and reapply in 2-3 years to build up more evidence. Stay strong my friend and good luck !

Although I don't have any kids yet, but imo for couple that have kids together, Canada should at least granted a visit visa to their spouse while waiting for their appeal unless their spouse are deem to be inadmissible to Canada (ex criminal record). And in regards to go visit your spouse more...

You should request the GCMS notes on your file to see what's the hold up is by the visa office, it usually takes around 4 wks to get them to email your notes. There is a GCMS thread on this forum that can guide you regarding how to request for your notes

Yes I did attend the scheduling conference to set my date. Call IAD if you are out of the country, I think you can do your scheduling conference over at the phone.

You can also look up other people's hearing online https://www.canlii.org/en/ca/irb/ I find it very useful in preparing for your own hearing by looking at the cases similar to yourself.
