Ah, what can I say. Canada should be able to do better fer Pete's sake. I found your previous update pretty funny, too.

Wow, some activity. Congrats to jamaicanincanada and trungnan! Seven months can be a long time, can't it. About half of the people on the spreadsheet have had their passport request but it's amazing that only ten of us have received the visa (or maybe that's just due to low reporting).

I'd use your Client ID, if you got that. If not, it sounds like your receipt number will have to do.

I was never sent any letter when the second portion began. My ECAS status quietly changed and that was that. I eventually filed a query to retrieve the CAIPS and GCMS notes on our case but even that took a month (filed Sep 13, response arrived Oct 13). If it would put your mind at ease, why not...

Thanks, everyone! 8^) I'm a little surprised at how little we've heard from everyone since this thread's active early days. I'll keep watching for updates - but all the best to those who are still waiting!

All is well. I picked up the passport last night, and took the day off to do our flagpoling at the Queenston-Lewiston crossing. We stopped in St. Catharines to take advantage of the short waits at the Service Ontario and Service Canada locations in that small city (for her OHIP and SIN...

Here's some "movement". It turns out that the visa office in Japan essentially turned around the passport with visa in a single day, and mailed it off on October 5. They sent it as a trackable mail item, but not requiring signature or by courier etc. It turned up on October 12, and then, in one...

I love the way you told that. ;^)

Today, I popped by my MP's office with the GCMS data and a form authorizing their access to our application. They said that they'd follow up with the visa office, and according to the protocols the visa office would have to respond within two business days. I don't know if that'll help us get...

The system is opaque to me. The documents (a scan of a printed hard copy, sadly) lists the Application # and the Status as "closed".

I've just heard back from CIC on the CAIPS/GCMS request from some weeks back. It confirms that my wife's application has been approved and that the file is closed. In the notes, it states in support of our application: "Photos and other evidence of relationship provided - detailed and credible...

Thank! Yup, still here. But I'm certainly in Canada, my wife and I arrived in January. We should have my wife's visa in another month.

Great news on the job offer. I'm amazed that they put in a request for a session of six months duration twenty years ago. Well, amazed probably isn't the right word. Annoyed? Good luck!
