Decision made is definitely a sign that you are at the end! Remind me again, did they keep the passport after the interview? (sorry, different stories are blurring in my mind now). Decision made always comes after they've completed your file, especially with POS. Ecas never shows any details on...

When does processing time actually start?

For the purposes of estimating processing times, it begins when the VO receives your application. Ecas updates depend completely on your VO and while some are great, others are notoriously behind. Some VO's won't change your status to "in process" until they're pretty much ready to finalize your...

    copr

Just be careful opening the envelope. My husband got so excited when they returned his passport and COPR that he ripped the envelope opened and ripped right through the COPR doc. He had to tape it back together ;D

    copr

You can fold it neatly in half or in 3 like a letter. Just treat it like the important document it is.

They didn't, but we did provide it as part of our application, so they already had it.

In DCA it takes only 2 days to get the PC, so in that situation I'd say just wait and see if they request it. However, if it takes longer in slu, then makes sense to go ahead and do it now. Post is the best way to send it from what I've heard. If they specifically request something from you...

The PC is only valid for one year, so if that has passed, it's possible they'll ask for another one with PPR.

No,we didn't. You're required to send a PC for every country the applicant has lived in for over 6 months since the age of 18. My husband left Dca when he was 15. He did return to Dca during the processing, so then it got tricky. At the time we received PPR, he'd only been there for 4.5 months...

When does your original PC expire? We had to do the Dominica one, because we had never done it before. I'm still not sure why they asked us for the Dominica one, but at that point we just wanted to get it over with. Did you submit one from slu with your application?

How to cope with a spouse who has recently landed?

Thank you. Just speaking from personal and professional experience. I truly do wish everyone the best in their marriages and in life.

There is no predefined limit on how long they can keep your passport. They'll keep it as long as it takes them to complete their work. For spousal applications, it's usually 2-4 weeks. Other relatives have different procedures, so I'm not sure what those timelines are.

Did anyone had to go throught an interview? (married couples)

Do a search on this forum for interview questions. There's a long list that has been posted several times

    Disclose Plans or Not???

Yeah, unless there's something glaring in your application that makes it absolutely necessary to give this additional info, leave it out. No point in opening up an unnecessary can of worms. Focus on getting your PR and reuniting with your wife. Once that's out of the way, you can continue your...

How to cope with a spouse who has recently landed?

I'm not trying to be insensitive or disrespectful of anyone's relationship, and I apologize in advance if what I'm about to say offends anyone. The issues I see being discussed here, these really are not issues of immigration, these are relationship issues, due partly or wholly to getting...

It used to be called BFD in CAIPS. In gcms it's called the "due date". Should be one under the main sections up front, specifically under "application assignment"

    Has anyone.......????

Well, to be fair, before the internet the immigration process was MUCH simpler. My dad sponsored my mom in the late 70's, and he pretty much filled in a form saying "she's my fiancee, I want her here, will marry". My mom came up, they got married two months later, and she got her PR. Easy as pie...

LOL you crack me up Yeah... our first email was requesting the AOR, which they sent. Then we sent a couple more, I forget why, but likely asking for info which they ignored. Then once they starting replying things started moving along. I've seen it happen with others on the forum as well. At...

    Has anyone.......????

The PPR is literally that - the passport request. If they already have his passport, no need to request it. As others have said, take ecas with a grain of salt, some VOs update it religiously, others couldn't be bothered. However, the PPR also includes a line where they request some brief info...

Haha, well as a calypsonian once sang "gimme something, anything is something". Seriously though, history has shown that when POS starts replying to your email it means there is some form of activity going on, so I always take that as a good sign. They pretty much ignore you if they haven't...

Once landing, you obtain PR status and can come and go as you please. There is a residency requirement to maintain PR status, check the CIC website for exact details, I think you have to be in Canada 6 months out of the year or something. But you can leave anytime. People often land right after...
